Company Profile
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Driven primarily by human activities, the climate change has pushed the green house gases level to all time high in our Earth's atmosphere. As of 2022, the global temperature had increased by 1.2 degrees Celcius above the pre-industrial average. It may not seems much, but the effects of such seemingly-small temperature increase are far-reaching and devastating, impacting every corner of the globe.
In Asia, the warming trend is almost doubling since in the past four decade since 1960s, making it the region that is heating up faster than the global average. For example, in many of the regions, the sea surface temperatures has been constantly accelerating its temperature up to three times faster than global average.
Furthermore, the rising global temperature have also resulted in more soil moisture being lost to the atmosphere, increasing drought condition across the plant. Asia's annual mean near-surface temperature ranked as the second highest on record with 0.91 degrees Celcius above the global average in the decade between 1990 - 2020.
What's more the increase in evaporation occurs not only on land, but also in ocean, which leads to intensifying of both the frequency and the strength of devastating torrential rain, and tropical cyclones in some regions in Asia. In 2023, Asia saw 79 water hazard disasters, with over 80% linked to floods and storms, resulting in over 2000 fatalities and affecting nine million people directly.
These changes pose serious threat to our environment, economy, and public health. Economic losses from weather-, climate-, and water-related disasters is estimated to exceed USD 15 billion in 2023. Furthermore, thre are about 2.4 billion people in Asia that are endangered to lose their homes if the sea level rising due to increased temperature.
These alarming statistics highlight the need for a global force of change to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Ecoverra is an upcoming green-tech startup from Indonesia that aim to be the leader in Asia for addressing climate change. We do this through various technologies to directly capture green house gases from the atmosphere, and through other technologies to usher carbon projects in the region. Ecoverra believes that technology can and should plays a larger role in fighting the climate change
